A tasty recipe for success

Recipe for Success:

1 large dream

3 to 4 long-range goals, 4 medium-range goals and a handful of short-term goals [with a dash of milestones thrown in]

1 large dose of commitment

A heaping cup full of belief

Mix all together with the business of your choice and knead well.

Add these ingredients as your success begins to bubble: enthusiasm, a positive attitude, involvement [go to the meetings, make the phone calls, be “present in the moment”], and add a topping of Ownership.

If your dream, your why is big enough, it will fuel all your activity – doesn’t matter what your business is, you need to know Why you’re doing it.

Goals are important…if you don’t know where you’d like to be, you won’t know that you ever got there.  Goals need to be written down so you can see them; they need to be measureable and specific; goals need to have a deadline…and they must be realistic.  A Milestone is a “marker” telling you that you are on the right path; a goal is a stop along that path.

Commit to your business and yourself.  Do what you say you’re going to do.  Commitment involves “action.”  Commitment is not passive.  Commitment is something you do…you enroll, you sponsor, you sell, you prospect, you travel, you give speeches and talks, you share…it’s the “doing” of the business.

You BELIEVE.  You have to believe in your business or else ask yourself why you’re spending the time.  Either your business is for you or it isn’t.  Believe it before you see it.  Our brains are interesting instruments – if we truly believe we’re capable of achieving, our brains will go about working to make it come true.  It will send us to school, or make us read or have us search out a mentor…it will be open and, like radar, looking for opportunities.

Enthusiasm is contagious.  If you are excited about your business and your product/service, so will others be.  Positive thinking is powerful…it goes hand-in-hand with Belief.  Involvement is you becoming present everyday.  All this leads to Ownership.  It is your business

  1. Great post, Linda. The number one thing we need right now is commitment: being enthusiastically committed to our business and our clients. Having a “can do” attitude. It’s doing that gets results.
